The State : Firebomb Hits School Office
A fire ignited by a Molotov cocktail caused an estimated $300,000 damage to a portable building at the Modesto City Schools headquarters, authorities said. City Fire Department spokesman Bill Houk said an arson investigation is under way, but there were no suspects. Flames destroyed the building and damaged 20 computer terminals, laser printers and computer software designed to train teachers, school spokeswoman Carol Quinlan said. The building houses the Media Center and the Child Welfare and Attendance Department. The Molotov cocktail apparently was thrown through a window in the back of the building.
