Sylmar 2, Poly 1--The Spartans clinched a share of their first league title since 1983 at the expense of the two-time defending champions at Poly.

Sylmar left-hander Tom Ball (7-0), making his first appearance since being taken out in the fifth inning last week against Reseda, pitched his fourth complete game.

Sylmar (17-3, 14-2) took a 1-0 lead in the third when Jose Gallegos walked, advanced to third on a pair of ground outs and scored when Joe Contreraz singled to shallow center.
