Muriel Wenger, 74; Art Gallery Operator
Muriel Wenger, who with her husband, Sigmund, had operated one of Los Angeles’ better known contemporary art galleries, died Thursday of apparent heart failure.
She was 74 and died in a Los Angeles hospital.
Mrs. Wenger was considered an authority on post-World War II art. She came to California with her husband in 1963 after working as an art consultant in Mexico City.
Before joining the burgeoning group of art galleries on La Brea Avenue in 1986, the Wengers had owned a gallery in San Diego.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, a son and a grandchild.
