Nation : Pro-Choice Mail Floods Thornburgh
WASHINGTON — The campaign for the hearts, minds and votes of the Supreme Court on the abortion issue heated up today as pro-choice activists delivered 200,000 letters to Atty. Gen. Dick Thornburgh.
The American Civil Liberties Union, joined by actor Ed Asner and Rep. Pat Schroeder (D-Colo.), dumped two dozen mailbags at the Justice Department containing more than 200,000 letters asking the department to drop its attempt to have the landmark 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision legalizing abortion overturned.
