Girls’ Basketball : Brodowy’s 23 Spark Hart to 67-25 Victory
Nikki Brodowy and Sara Wilson each scored in double figures and freshman Anjanette Dionne recorded a triple-8--8 points, 8 assists and 8 steals--as Hart High remained unbeaten in Foothill League play with a 67-25 pounding Friday of visiting San Gabriel.
Brodowy, a senior forward, scored a game-high 23 points and Wilson, a junior forward, added 10 and 12 rebounds. The Indians, who last season reached the playoffs for the first time, improved to 19-2 overall, 8-0 in league play.
Thousand Oaks 80, Camarillo 42--Shani Smyth scored 12 of her 22 points in the fourth quarter as visiting Thousand Oaks routed Camarillo to take sole possession of first place in the Marmonte League.
Michelle Palmisano added 22 points, Amy Chandler had 15 and Sue Kama had 12 as Thousand Oaks dominated the game from beginning to end. Camarillo’s top players, Nicole Victoria and Angie Long, fouled out in the fourth quarter.
Thousand Oaks is 20-4 overall and 8-2 in league play. Camarillo (7-3) dropped into second place.
Reseda 59, Van Nuys 37--Aggie Garcia had 18 points and 10 rebounds as the Regents rolled to victory in a Mid-Valley League game at Reseda.
Cheryl Hightower added 12 points and 10 rebounds for Reseda (13-3, 8-0), the two-time defending City Section 3-A Division champion.
North Hollywood 67, Monroe 30--Michelle Cabaldon (21 points, 14 rebounds) and Claudia Rocha (19 points, 13 rebounds) dominated for the second-place Huskies (14-4, 7-1) in a Mid-Valley League game at North Hollywood.
Kennedy 71, El Camino Real 64--Felicia Stanley scored a game-high 31 points and teammate Dawn Coleman added 14 for Kennedy in the West Valley League game at El Camino Real.
Lisa Huffaker scored 22 points for El Camino Real and Cathy Balint added 18.
Cleveland 54, Chatsworth 52--Cheryl Aschenbach and Dawn Greer each scored 10 points to lead Cleveland (4-4, 1-3) in a North Valley League game at Chatsworth.
Poly 48, Sylmar 29--Julie Dawson scored 10 points for Poly and teammates Pook Tiengard and LaTonya Johnson contributed 9 and 8 points in the East Valley League game at Poly.
Johnson and Tiengard added 14 and 12 rebounds for Poly (5-9, 3-5).
Taft 57, San Fernando 40--Julie Koppekin and Alissa Tishler each scored 15 points for Taft (2-6, 2-2) in the West Valley League game at Taft.
