Libya Opens Consulate in Soviet Central Asia

MOSCOW — Libya opened a consulate office in the Soviet Central Asian republic of Uzbekistan on Monday, becoming the fourth country to establish a diplomatic post in the predominantly Muslim state, the official Tass news agency said.
Libya, which already has a small nine-person embassy in Moscow, joins Afghanistan, India and Mongolia as the only diplomatic representation in Uzbekistan.
