Lo, the Poor Lady Theater-Goer
I’m pleased to see such enthusiasm and jubilation for the $17.6-million Irvine Theatre. I understand it’s a 750-seat theater. That’s a nice size for the theater part; now then, how about the seating for the ladies restrooms? The most pitiful sight is at the Orange County Performing Arts Center during intermission (and at the South Coast Repertory Theatre and the Laguna Moulton Theatre also).
On the way to the men’s room it’s difficult not to notice the doors to the ladies restroom wide open and the long lines extending into the lobby . . . C’mon, you high-falutin’ architects. Get on your drawing boards and let’s really be practical. The high prices the theaters get these days should entitle the patrons to some decent accommodations.
