Gorbachev Cuts Troops

Gorbachev has put on a brilliant show for the American people. A man of peace, who wants to end the arms race. We rolled out the “red carpet” as if he were a godsend. The media are in ecstasy.

Gorbachev declares a grandiloquent plan to unilaterally remove 500,000 troops from Western Europe. This would not remove the threat from Europe, even if he carried out such a self-serving plan. He is to remove offensive troops; ours are defensive. Look for his next offer to remove all nuclear weapons, if we will do so, knowing our umbrella protects Europe.

The truth is, Russia is bankrupt; the people are hungry, restless and becoming rebellious. He has to do something quick to get U.S. aid so he can keep the huge munitions plants operating.

If he really wants peace, why didn’t he say he was removing all troops from Afghanistan where the Soviets have raped and destroyed that little country, or removing the 40,000 Cuban troops from Angola, or feeding some of the millions of starving people in Africa that his evil regime has brought about?

Finally, tear down the inhuman Berlin Wall. Only then would I begin to believe Gorbachev, who is like all communist leaders, by necessity, a master of lies and deceit.
