AND MORE ON THAT MCA-UNI RECORDS STORY: MCA chief Irving Azoff insists that Uni will continue to function as a separate label, now based on the West Coast. And several industry vets called to protest Azoff’s portrait of ex-MCA president Myron Roth (in last week’s Pop Eye) as a “passive” label leader. The callers credited Roth, now at CBS Records, with organizing MCA’s black music division, preserving label morale and being involved in signings of such key artists as the Jets, Boston and New Edition.
