Wal-Mart Stores Inc.’s third-quarter earnings advanced 33% from last year to $180.9 million. The Bentonville, Ark.-based retailer said sales rose 24% to $4.99 billion and credited sales momentum and inventory management for the improved results. The company opened 27 new Wal-Mart stores and 11 Sam’s Wholesale clubs during the quarter.
