PREP FOOTBALL : Williams’ 5 Scores in the First Half Pace Kennedy
Junior tailback Ed Williams scored 5 touchdowns in the first half to lead Kennedy High School to a 34-14 Garden Grove League victory over Garden Grove Thursday night in front of 400 at Garden Grove High School.
Kennedy is 6-1-1 overall and 5-0 in league play. Garden Grove is 0-8 and 0-5.
Williams scored on runs of 11, 50, 2 and 1 yards. He also caught a 26-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Pete Montera, who completed 7 of 10 passes for 138 yards.
After gaining 128 yards rushing in the first half, Williams lost 14 yards early in the third quarter and finished with 114 yards in 16 carries.
Garden Grove quarterback Frank Wursthorn completed 4 of 5 passes for 79 yards in the first half. He threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Joe Squyers. However, for the game, Wursthorn completed only 8 of 26 passes for 181 yards with 1 interception.
