PREP FOOTBALL : Thomas Scores 3, Gains 193 Yards in Valencia’s Rout
Kevin Thomas rushed for 193 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead Valencia High School to a 40-0 Orange League victory over Savanna Thursday night at Western High School.
Thomas, who carried the ball only 7 times, scored on runs of 25 and 54 yards in the first quarter and broke loose for a 94-yard touchdown run on the second play of the second quarter for the Tigers (7-0-1 overall, 3-0 in league play).
Savanna (1-7, 0-3) then drove to the Valencia 1, but running back Ryan Aughenbaugh was stopped short of the goal line on fourth down to end the Rebels’ only scoring threat.
Valencia went ahead, 28-0, on a 2-yard pass from Tracy Garrett to Eric Fagan just before the half.
John Fewell made the score 34-0 on a 15-yard, third-quarter run. Tony Boone returned a punt blocked by Steve Rangel 5 yards for a touchdown.
