Local News in Brief : Seal Beach : Motorcyclist Killed in Freeway Mishap
A Hawthorne man was killed Wednesday morning when he was thrown from his motorcycle and run over by a semi-truck on the southbound San Diego Freeway near 7th Street, the California Highway Patrol said.
Carlos H. Bustamente, 26, was weaving in and out of 40-m.p.h. traffic on his 1987 Kawasaki motorcycle about 6:40 a.m. when his left handlebar caught the right rear taillight of an airport shuttle bus, CHP Officer Leslie Hill said.
Bustamente was thrown from the motorcycle and under the rear wheels of a truck that was hauling rock. He died at the scene, she said.
Two southbound lanes of the freeway were closed for about 90 minutes, Hill said.
