Altadena : Development Plan OKd

A controversial residential development plan in the Altadena foothills was given tentative approval Wednesday by the County Regional Planning Commission.

Commission Chairwoman Betty Fisher, who cast the only dissenting vote, agreed with a community group opposing the development that putting 272 single-family homes on the 220-acre La Vina property would be too dense.

Developers Cantwell-Anderson of Pasadena and Southwest Diversified Inc. of Orange County had first proposed building about 350 homes and a private school when they requested a zone change to allow the development on the north end of Lincoln Avenue.

The Planning Commission must approve a final environmental impact report before the matter is decided by the County Board of Supervisors.
