Speaking of NBC, the network is one of three players involved in a three-way TV station deal in Miami. The peacock network purchased WTVJ (Channel 4), the CBS affiliate in Miami, for $270 million in cash in January, 1987. That led to upstart Fox Broadcasting’s alliance with WSVN (Channel 7)--an NBC affiliate for 32 years--and CBS’ subsequent affiliation with WCIX (Channel 6), which had been with Fox. Fox is being considered the winner in the Miami broadcasting waltz: The mini-network gave away the weakest signal of the three for the strongest. WTVJ joins six other NBC-owned in Los Angeles (KNBC Channel 4), New York, Washington, Cleveland, Chicago and Denver.
