SDSU Soccer Team Wins With Another Shutout
Led by goalie Bryan Finnerty, the No. 4-ranked San Diego State men’s soccer team recorded its ninth shutout in 15 games by defeating St. Mary’s College, 2-0.
Kyle Whittemore and Eric Wynalda scored for SDSU (12-2-1). Whittemore’s goal came in the 17th minute of the first half with an assist by Juan SantaMaria. Wynalda, the Aztecs’ leading scorer, scored with 20 minutes to play.
GOLF
The 16th annual Southern California Amputee Golf Assn. tournament will be Nov. 12-13 at the Rancho San Diego Golf Club. The $75 entry fee for both days includes green fees, carts, golf caps and dinner.
A best-ball, four-person scramble for all players will be Nov. 11 at 8 a.m. Entry fee is $50. For information and entry forms, call 670-4367 or 292-7448.
Professional golfer Al Geiberger will be honored at the ninth annual Rolf Benirschke/National Foundation for Ileitis and Colitis celebrity roast, Nov. 5 at the Sheraton Harbor Island at 6:30 p.m.
The Al Geiberger Celebrity tournament will be at 10 a.m. Nov. 5 at Carmel Mountain Ranch.
Both events are open to the public with proceeds benefiting the San Diego Chapter of the NFIC. For information, call 544-0108.
A golf card offering 10 rounds of golf at 10 area participating courses is available for only $10 from the American Lung Assn. Valued at $100, the card is good through June 30, 1989, and proceeds go to the lung association. For information, call 297-3901.
