Police at Cal have arrested a suspect in the shooting of football player Joel Dickson, who was wounded outside a campus dance Oct. 1, after Cal’s win over San Jose State.

Kenneth Jackson, 19, of Richmond, Calif., has been charged with the attempted murder of Dickson, a defensive end, who was shot in the left arm and shoulder.

Campus police Sgt. John Powell said that Jackson and Dickson had exchanged words during a dance at a nightclub near the campus.
