Gunman Wounds Union Official

A gunman shot and critically wounded a union official today in the union’s local offices in the Harbor-Gateway area, police said.
The victim, Wally Sanford, 56, an official with Steam-Refrigeration-Air Conditioning & Pipe Fitter’s Local 250, was on life-support systems at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center after the shooting. The suspect, Ronald Soiset, 53, a member of the local, fled in a yellow Oldsmobile after he allegedly shot Sanford several times with a handgun at the local headquarters at 18355 S. Figueroa St., detective Pat Marshall said.
