Disabled Athletes to Compete at Seoul
Three disabled athletes from Southern California will compete this month at Seoul in the Paralympic Games, an international athletic competition sanctioned by the U.S. Olympic Committee.
Dave Kiley of San Dimas, Curtis Bell of Norwalk and Albert Campos of Claremont were scheduled to leave for South Korea Thursday to play on the U.S. men’s wheelchair basketball team in the event Oct. 15-24. They are members of the Casa Colina Condors team, which won the 1988 national wheelchair basketball championship.
Kiley is the recipient of the Jack Gerhardt athlete-of-the-year award, given by the Paralyzed Veterans of America to a wheelchair athlete who displays outstanding athletic ability and sportsmanship while contributing to the development of wheelchair sports.
