“The Latin Connection,” a variety show, debuts Saturday at 11 a.m. on KTLA Channel 5 in Los Angeles. Co-hosted by Tanya Soler and comedian Joey Vega, the one-hour, dance-oriented show simulcast in Spanish and taped live inside New York’s Studio 54 nightclub will focus on Latino celebrities--slugger Jose Canseco of the Oakland A’s, actor Edward James Olmos and singing groups like the “The Latin Rascals”--who’ve broken into the big time. “The timing is perfect,” said Carl W. Menk Jr., senior vice president of All American, the show’s distributor. “The Hispanic influence on mainstream U.S.A. is incredible. We’re excited to be putting (it) on the air.”
