San Diego
A man being investigated in connection with as many as 18 rapes pleaded not guilty Tuesday to twice raping a woman whose house he allegedly burglarized.
Municipal Judge Raymond Edwards Jr. set bail at $500,000 for Barrett B. Littleton, 43, of Pacific Beach, who faces an Oct. 27 preliminary hearing.
He is charged with two counts of rape, one of burglary and one of oral copulation in connection with the sexual attack on a Pacific Beach woman Sept. 14.
In requesting the large bail, Deputy Dist. Atty. Dan Williams said the defendant, who has a long criminal record, primarily involving sex charges in San Diego County and Florida, faces about 50 years in prison if convicted on the four charges.
“He is very dangerous and is being investigated in connection with other crimes at this time,” Williams said.
Littleton is scheduled to be viewed today in a police lineup by victims of similar attacks in Pacific Beach and La Jolla since June.
