2 Workers Burned in Home Club Fire
A Home Club store in Fountain Valley was evacuated Saturday when an electrical fire erupted in a back room and burned two workers.
Several dozen customers were in the store at Brookhurst Street and Edinger Avenue when the small fire occurred at 2 p.m., Fountain Valley fire officials said.
One worker suffered extensive burns to his right hand and forearm when an electrical panel he was checking shorted out and started the fire, said Battalion Fire Chief Larry Hammer.
A worker standing next to him suffered minor burns to his right hand and cheek. Both men were treated at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center.
The fire caused minimal damage, officials said. Customers were allowed back in the store after about half an hour.
