UCLA, Pepperdine to Play UC Irvine in Bren Center
UC Irvine will play host to UCLA, Pepperdine, the University of San Francisco and the Freedom Bowl tournament during the 1988-89 basketball season, the college announced Tuesday.
Irvine begins its season with exhibition games against Athletes in Action and the Czechoslovakian National Team.
The Anteaters open the regular season against Georgia State in the first round of the Freedom Bowl tournament Nov. 25. TCU plays Maryland in the other first-round game the same day. The championship is Nov. 26.
The University of San Francisco plays in the Bren Center Nov. 30, Pepperdine Dec. 10, and UCLA makes its first appearence at Irvine Dec. 28.
Irvine opens Big West Conference play at Nevada Las Vegas Dec. 15. The Anteaters’ first conference game at home is against Fresno State Jan. 19.
