Local News in Brief : Anaheim : Worker Injured in Fall at Convention Center
A construction worker was slightly injured Tuesday when he fell into 30-foot hole at a construction site at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Witnesses said Patrick Luyet, 20, of Seal Beach was lifting a piece of plywood that covered the hole when he slipped and fell into it. It took paramedics and firemen about 20 minutes to pull Luyet out. He was taken to Western Medical Center where he was treated for cuts and bruises and released.
Al Marlinga, a foreman for Taylor Woodward Construction Corp., which is building an exhibit hall and parking structure next to the convention center, said it appeared that Luyet simply lost his balance and fell.
“It was like someone sucked him into the hole, but thank God he doesn’t seem to be hurt very badly,” Marlinga said. The hole was one of a series dug for support columns of the new exhibit hall.
