Latinos Sue L.A. County

Attorneys representing Latino residents in Los Angeles County’s supervisorial districts filed a federal lawsuit today accusing county officials of “a history of official discrimination” against Latinos in the way the district lines are drawn. The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California filed the class-action suit in an effort to force the county into expanding the five-member Board of Supervisors and enhancing the chances of electing a Latino member.
