‘Too Fast’ Is All Too True
The opinion of mental health professionals that “hurrying children to grow up stems not from children’s need but rather from those of parents” is proven by observing what movies young children are viewing. It never ceases to amaze me when I go to the theater and see parents bringing young children to see adult movies such as “Cocktail,” “Bright Lights, Big City” and “Dirty Dancing.” These obviously aren’t parents who are sacrificing a Saturday afternoon to take the kiddies to the matinee. Instead, they are selfishly putting their own needs before the children’s.
