Pablo Wilches gave Colombia’s Postobon team its first stage victory in this year’s Coors International bicycle race with a first-place finish in the 11th stage, the 107-mile road race from Aspen to Copper Mountain, Colo.
In the women’s race, the 54-mile third stage, Leslie Schenk of Cincinnati claimed her second straight victory.
One rider, Katrin Tobin of Ketchum, Ida., a member of the U.S. Olympic team, was disqualified after she was stung by a bee during the road race, officials said. She reportedly received illegal medical assistance when she was stung. She had been in eighth place heading into the stage in overall standings.
