Two 15-year-old boys were injured, one critically, when they were hit by a car Thursday while jogging across Euclid Street at Chapman Avenue, police said.

The accident occurred shortly after 8 a.m., when the driver of a red Dodge Colt was traveling west on Chapman and struck the boys, who had a green light, Garden Grove Police Lt. Ken Adair said.

The driver, identified as Sassan S. Kouchekpour, 26, of Garden Grove, then lost control of the car, crossed the center divider and ran into three cars that were stopped at the intersection waiting to turn left.

One victim, Christopher Michael Pineda of Garden Grove, was thrown about 75 feet and landed where Kouchekpour’s vehicle struck the three cars. Emergency workers had to use a jack to remove Pineda from beneath a 1979 Chevrolet Caprice.

Pineda was listed in critical condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange.

The other boy, Stephen William Hoganson of Garden Grove, was treated for minor injuries.

A driver of one of the other cars was also taken to UCI Medical Center for minor injuries. Kouchekpour was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

An investigation is continuing, police said.
