Harley-Davidson has named Richard S. Teerlink to the new post of president and chief operating officer of the motorcycle maker. Teerlink had held those posts in Harley’s motorcycle division since March, 1987. He joined the company as chief financial officer in 1981.

In his new position, Teerlink takes on the responsibilities for Holiday Rambler Corp.

Replacing him as head of the motorcycle division is James H. Paterson, senior vice president of marketing for that unit.
