Allstate Insurance Co. has enacted a smoking ban in its 5,800 buildings and agent offices nationwide, becoming one of the largest companies to do so. The ban prohibits smoking by employees in any facility, including insurance centers in Sears outlets and property assessment offices. Allstate is owned by Sears, Roebuck & Co. The company has not decided what action to take with customers who smoke.
