‘Manassas Maulers’

In response to your editorial and without writing a long editorial of my own, may I just remind Hodel that over 600,000 American lives were lost on fields such as Bull Run. More than 10 times the total of the Vietnam conflict and in less than half the time. The Civil War was then and continues to be the greatest political upheaval in our nation’s history.

Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.) and his supporters should “stand like a stone wall” upon that field and show no quarter. Perhaps Hodel could build a shopping mall over the Vietnam Memorial.
