Japanese-U.S. Junior Tennis Match

Seven members of the championship Maruko Tennis Team Japan will play an exhibition match against nationally ranked juniors from the Torrance and Palos Verdes areas Tuesday at the Rolling Hills Plaza Racquet Club.

The match, billed as an act of good will between American and Japanese youths, will include special opening ceremonies, the exchange of gifts between players and a friendship party.

Members of the Japanese team competed against 2,700 other junior players in the Maruko Wimbledon Junior Tennis Championship ’88 to win the opportunity to participate in England’s Wimbledon.

The team is sponsored by the Japan Tennis Assn. and co-sponsored by Maruko Inc., an international real estate investment business.

The event will be held from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the racquet club, 2600 Airport Drive, Torrance.
