The Christian Science Monitor newspaper said “World Monitor,” its new weeknight news program anchored by former CBS and NBC correspondent John Hart, will debut in September on cable-TV’s 18-hour-a-day Discovery Channel. Discovery, a service that offers documentary programming, says it now is seen in 33.4 million homes. Harry Castleman, a spokesman for the program, which is based in Boston, said Monday the deal with the Discovery Channel, with one exception, is “exclusive,” meaning it won’t be offered to TV stations. The exception, Castleman said, is the Monitor-owned UHF TV station in Boston, WQTV, which will air the program, previously called “Monitor NewsWorld.” The new program, scheduled to air Mondays through Fridays, at 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. PDT, will premiere Sept. 12.
