Local News in Brief : Congressman Has Surgery
Rep. Glenn Anderson, chairman of the House Public Works and Transportation Committee, was in “excellent” condition after undergoing multiple bypass heart surgery Wednesday at a Los Angeles hospital.
The 75-year-old Long Beach Democrat underwent the surgery at Hospital of the Good Samaritan, according to his administrative assistant, Jeremiah Bresnaham.
Anderson has no history of heart problems, his aide said. The operation was performed to “clear up the arteries . . . (and) to spruce him up,” Bresnaham said.
Anderson, who entered the hospital Tuesday, is expected to return to his San Pedro home in time to celebrate the Fourth of July with his family, Bresnaham said.
