Local News in Brief : No Injuries in Brush Fire
A brush fire near Cataluna Square in Palos Verdes Estates was quickly extinguished by firefighters soon after it was reported Thursday afternoon, fire officials said.
No injuries were reported, and damage was limited to burned grass, said Capt. Ron Lennan of the Palos Verdes Estates Fire Department.
The fire, on a 20-by-20-foot lot of private property near the square at Via Cataluna and Granvia Altamira, was reported at 3:09 p.m. and was put out about 10 minutes later, Lennan said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation, Lennan said. Smoking materials, including an ashtray, were found at the site, he said.
