Local News in Brief : Cypress : Downing, Jung Named National Merit Scholars
Two Cypress High School students are among the Orange County students winning prestigious National Merit Scholarships this year.
Paul E. Downing and Jeff A. Jung, both Cypress residents and students at Cypress High, were named as National Merit Scholars in the third and final round of 1988 announcements of the scholarship winners by the National Merit Scholarship Corp. of Evanston, Ill. The Times, in a listing last week of Orange County winners, inadvertently omitted the two Cypress High winners.
Cypress High is part of the Anaheim Union High School District.
A total of 14 Orange County students, including the two Cypress High students, won scholarships in the final round of the awards.
