Redondo Beach Man Arrested in Woman’s Death
Police have arrested Mark Eric Bone, 26, of Redondo Beach on suspicion of murder in the death of Geraldine Marie Harvey, a Hermosa Beach woman whose body was discovered last month in a Torrance field.
The 55-year-old denizen of the streets and bars around the Hermosa Beach Pier had been missing for two weeks when she was found Feb. 10 in the field at Maple Avenue and Del Amo Boulevard, dead of a single bullet wound.
Bone, a technician for a Gardena fiber optic firm, was first arrested Jan. 29 by sheriff’s deputies in Rancho Palos Verdes.
He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of a loaded weapon after police found a pistol and automatic rifle in his Ford Bronco, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Joe Eubanks.
Deputies said they noticed blood in the back seat but could not connect it to any crime.
When Harvey’s body was discovered 12 days later, Bone became a suspect, said Torrance police Sgt. Jack McDonald.
Hair and blood samples from the car were matched to Harvey, and police arrested Bone at his apartment Monday evening, McDonald said. Bone is being held without bail at the Torrance jail.
