Irvine : Campbell Endorses Baker for Badham Seat
City Councilman C. David Baker, a candidate for the 40th Congressional District, Thursday was endorsed by state Sen. William Campbell (R-Hacienda Heights).
“He’s a man who stands head and shoulders above any other candidate,” Campbell joked of the 6-foot, 7-inch Baker.
The endorsement was announced at a $50-per-person St. Patrick’s Day fund-raiser for Baker that was attended by more than 500 people at the Irvine Marriott.
Baker, 35, is one of 18 candidates--14 of them Republican--who are running in the heavily GOP district to succeed Rep. Robert E. Badham (R-Newport Beach), who is retiring after his sixth term.
Baker has also been endorsed by Badham, Supervisor Thomas F. Riley and Assemblyman Nolan Frizzelle, as well as other local elected Republican officials.
