Her catch eclipsed the listed state record, a 21-pound, 3-ounce bass taken by Ray Easley from Lake Casitas in Ventura County on March 4, 1980. The previous San Diego County record was a 20-pound, 15-ounce fish taken from Miramar on July 1, 1973, by Dave Zimmerlee. Defresco’s fish is the largest of its type reported since George Perry caught the world-record 22 pound, 4-ounce bass from Montgomery Lake in Georgia 56 years ago.
