Rebel Bombs Damage Colombia Export Office
BOGOTA, Colombia — Eight rebel commandos evacuated workers from the offices of a banana-export syndicate Tuesday and then detonated three bombs, causing extensive damage but no injuries, authorities said.
The bombs were placed on the 9th and 10th floors of a 25-story downtown building where Uniban, a syndicate of exporters in the province of Antioquia, has its offices. The guerrillas claimed to be from the M-19 leftist group.
Uniban represents exporters from the area where 26 workers were massacred last month, allegedly by an anti-Communist paramilitary group.
