The Los Angeles Board of Education will hold the first in a series of weekly public meetings Thursday at 2 p.m. to review its proposed master plan for bilingual education.

The plan, developed as a result of the expiration last year of state requirements for educating youngsters who speak little or no English, will be presented in eight parts. The topics to be covered at the first meeting include bilingual instruction at the elementary and secondary levels, staffing and parent and community involvement.

All meetings are scheduled for consecutive Thursdays at 2 p.m. through May 5 in the board room at 450 N. Grand Ave. No meeting will be held on March 31 because of spring break.
