Local News in Brief : Newbury Park Woman Is Found Shot in Head, Dies
A woman who had been shot in the back of the head was found in her car by a Ventura County sheriff’s deputy early Saturday in Thousand Oaks, authorities said. The woman, identified as Melinda M. Pape, 28, of Newbury Park, was pronounced dead at Los Robles Medical Center.
The deputy, whose name was not released, was on patrol at 4:15 a.m. when he saw the car parked at the side of the Hillcrest Drive off-ramp to the Moorpark Freeway, said Sgt. Bob Larson. The woman was in the driver’s seat, and attempts by the deputy to revive her failed.
