Polish leader Wojciech Jaruzelski called on Japanese businessmen Tuesday to help his government in its plans to drastically overhaul the economy and make its industries more export-oriented.

Gen. Jaruzelski, on a five-day state visit, told the National Press Club that he expects an announcement soon on the results of talks on economic cooperation, including a car manufacturing project.

Japan, along with some Western nations, has been withholding official credits to Poland since February, 1982, because of the declaration of martial law there in 1981.
