VENICE, Italy — Paramilitary police have rescued a kidnaped businessman in a raid on a villa where they found a large store of arms and ammunition, authorities said.
Severino Salati, 55, owner of a factory that makes truck axles, was found chained to a cot at the house in the town of Oriago, just outside Venice.
Authorities said police made a number of arrests, mainly of people previously not suspected of criminal activities, and confiscated guns and ammunition.
Salati was kidnaped the night of Oct. 14 from his factory office in Reggio Emilia.
