College Roundup : Cal State Fullerton Proves No Match for UCLA
The UCLA men’s soccer team beat Cal State Fullerton, 6-0, in front of 1,432 Wednesday at Fullerton.
Shaun Del Grande scored on two penalty kicks, Billy Thompson had two goals and Peter Pelle and Jeff Hooker one each for the Bruins (14-0-5), the nation’s No. 3 team.
UCLA has not lost in 37 games. The Titans, who earned a berth in the NCAA tournament as Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. champions, had a five-game winning streak at home broken.
Fullerton is 7-10-2.
In men’s soccer:
Cal State Dominguez Hills 2, Chapman 0--Joe Flanagan scored two goals to lead the Toros in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. game at Dominguez Hills. Flanagan scored at the 24th- and 58th-minute marks to help raise the Toros to 7-2 and 12-6-1.
Chapman is 3-5 and 9-10-1.
In women’s volleyball:
UCSB 3, UC Irvine 0--Shari Rodgers had 12 kills to lead the Gauchos to a 15-7, 15-7, 15-9 win in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. volleyball match at Irvine. Kris Roberts had eight kills for the Anteaters.
UCI (1-13, 7-22) plays host to Fresno State Friday night. UCSB is 10-4, 21-8.
