Man Arrested in Kidnaping of Santee Girl
A 25-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in the kidnaping of a 9-year-old Santee girl, sheriff’s deputies reported.
David William Turner of El Cajon was being questioned Wednesday night in connection with the abduction of Kelley Yette from outside her home last weekend. Williams was booked on suspicion of kidnaping and assault.
Authorities launched a search for the girl after she disappeared from her home in the 9400 block of Carlton Oaks Drive about 8 p.m. Saturday.
Investigators said Kelly probably spent the night in the kidnaper’s vehicle and was assaulted before being released or escaping. A motorist spotted the girl wandering the streets about 11:30 a.m. Sunday and led her to authorities.
The Sheriff’s Department Child Abuse Unit and Santee station detectives were pursuing leads when a major break led detectives to the suspect’s residence on Dehesa Road, Sgt. Greg Reynolds said. Turner was taken into custody about 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Reynolds said a deputy spotted a vehicle matching the description of that believed used in the abduction, and the driver matched the composite drawing made from a description provided by the girl. A license check led deputies to the suspect’s residence.
