Man Held in Drive-by Killing
A Santa Ana man has been arrested in the drive-by shooting death of a 19-year-old acquaintance, Santa Ana police said Wednesday.
Ramon Muniz of Santa Ana died Tuesday night at Coastal Communities Hospital in Santa Ana of gunshot injuries suffered Monday night, police spokeswoman Maureen Thomas said.
Muniz was standing in front of 809 S. Diamond St. about 9:15 p.m. Monday when a shot was fired from a passing car, striking Muniz once in the abdomen, Thomas said.
Police arrested Juan Carlos Martinez, 19, on suspicion of murder Tuesday. Thomas said an investigation revealed that the shooting occurred after Martinez and Muniz had an argument. She said the shooting was not gang-related.
