Monterey Park : Legion to Sponsor Parade
The American Legion post in Monterey Park will sponsor a parade and rally Saturday to honor Vietnam veterans and call attention to servicemen who are listed as missing in action in Southeast Asia.
The parade, featuring color guards and marching units from the Army, Navy, Air Force and veterans organizations, will step off at 10 a.m. at the American Legion Hall on Ramona Avenue, proceed north on Ramona, east on Garvey Avenue, south on Alhambra Avenue and west on Newmark Avenue to the Barnes Park Amphitheater, where a rally will start at noon. The Air Force will salute missing servicemen by flying three fighter planes over the event.
Rally participants will include Rep. Matthew G. Martinez (D-Monterey Park), Mayor G. Monty Manibog, former Mayor David Almada and legion Cmdr. Les McDonald, according to parade and rally organizer Frank J. Arcuri.
