The State : 2 Cougars Recaptured
Two declawed cougars that escaped or were set free from a pen at a compound in Scotts Valley over the weekend were recaptured, but American Wildlife Rescue Service founder-director Jeanne Milweski said one of the animals was injured during its brief hours of freedom in the Santa Cruz County community. Milweski said the female of the pair was unhurt, but the male had evidently been injured in an encounter with a large animal, perhaps a dog.
