Garden Grove : Murder Not Linked to L.A.’s Serial Killer

A woman who was stabbed to death and dumped in a Garden Grove street does not appear to be a victim of a suspected serial killer in Los Angeles, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman said Monday.

The spokesman, Cmdr. William Booth, said the conclusion was based on comparing “the sum total of the evidence” in the 17 murders linked to an unknown suspect dubbed the Southland Slayer with evidence found in the Garden Grove case--as well as “other things we don’t talk about.”

The body of Kiva Marie Bible was discovered on a street by a motorist early Saturday, her 28th birthday, Garden Grove police said. They believe Bible had been killed elsewhere, then dumped in the 9200 block of Stanford Avenue. The blond, blue-eyed woman from Garden Grove had been stabbed numerous times in the chest, police said. She had a record of prostitution arrests, police said.

Unlike Bible, all but two of the women believed killed in Los Angeles by the same person in the last three years have been black. Booth said most of the slain women have been “active prostitutes” working in the same general locations in the South Central Los Angeles area.
